Overview
Client: Kalilos
An explainer for Kalilos' new toolkit, Konnector, was created for awareness purposes and to educate potential clients about their new service offerings.
I owned this project from concept to final render, completing each step of the process personally, from concept and script, to storyboard and illustration, and finally animation and sound effects.
The goal of this video was to create a educate but also establish a visual and animated aesthetic for Konnector. By working on the project myself from the start, I was able to execute effectively and coherently, ensuring things like visuals, music, and animation all melted together seamlessly.
Concept
I started at square one; what is the goal of this video? What does it offer? We decided it was essential to create a video showing off Konnector and it's features, that could educate current and potential customers as to how Konnector could serve their needs.
Upon writing a script, I moved forward to a creative concept for the video, using what I knew about Konnector to tell a story about a users experience within the Amazon seller's world. Once I had something solid, and the clients agreed it spoke both to their mission and their users needs, we jumped right into storyboarding the video. It was a great step towards creating an identity for Konnector, which thus far had just a name, logo, and product, which leads to the next step in the process!
Style & Illustration
This is really where Konnector's brand potential and my storytelling takes visual shape. Frames were created to explore the look and feel of not only Konnector's product, but it's design identity.
Based off the Amazon seller space, and Konnector's goals within it, I decided to make the video sleek and techy, showing user experience through abstract visuals and animated UI.
I also wanted to elevate the look and feel of the video, and opted to use parallax so that assets could give a sense of depth, making it seem as though you're looking beyond the Konnector product into a representation of it's inner workings.
The Final Result
After establishing style, it was all about bringing it all together. In animating this video, I wanted to maintain movement. If you look closely, you'll notice there are no cuts. The video is one seamless scene. This was intentional to maintain not just a flow of information, but to guide the viewers eyes forward into the video.
The frames were animated to a nice, approachable voice over that spoke to the product ease of use.
A track was chosen that kept up the fast pace of the video, and gave the moments some rhythm to move to.
Finally, sound effects were brought in to give each movement more life and finish off the process. This piece works not only as an explainer for Konnector, but also as a user story, making the viewer reflect on pain-points and how Konnector can help them.
